Was rolling down the rear passenger window on my 2014 535i yesterday and heard a horrible cracking sound like someone snapped a plastic ruler in half, and now the window just drops straight down into the door with a clunk if I'm not holding it up with my hand. Currently have it taped in the closed position with enough clear packing tape to make it look like I'm hauling evidence from a crime scene, which is not exactly the executive sedan look I was going for. From what I've gathered the regulator clip that holds the glass to the cable mechanism is made of plastic that gets brittle over time, especially in this heat, and when it finally gives way there's nothing left to support the window. I've done a window regulator on an E46 years ago and remember it being fiddly but doable with basic tools and patience, but the F10 door looks more complicated with extra sound deadening and airbag sensors that I'd rather not accidentally disturb. I came across https://www.bmw-garage.ae/ while looking for a shop that stocks the regulator assembly locally rather than me ordering one from overseas and waiting two weeks with a taped up window. Anyone replaced an F10 rear regulator themselves and can tell me if I'm overthinking the difficulty or if it's genuinely more involved than the older models.
